Summary Of Magazines.

Competitor Magazines

Here are a Few of my competitor magazines that I found using Google, as you can see there are different types of themes used in each magazine ranging from Colour Groups and Bold fonts, as you can see in each magazine there is a featured articled because that’s what helps sells each magazine, if the audience know what’s inside there are more prone to buy it.

Vibe: - is a music and entertainment magazine founded by producer Quincy Jones. The publication predominantly features R&B and hip-hop music artists, actors and other entertainers. Issued quarterly, the magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban followers of hip-hop culture.
On June 30, 2009, it was announced that Vibe was shutting its doors and ceasing publication immediately, although according to Essence, Quincy Jones has stated he would like to keep it alive online.

Urban Network: - The magazine and website's content focuses on artist interviews, radio air personalities, industry gossip, insider record company information, executive interviews, event photos and special interest information. The Urban Network covers contemporary urban music, gospel, hip-hop, adult contemporary, blues and jazz.

It examines the latest in home entertainment trends, cinema and DVD news, TV, gaming and lifestyle products.

XXL:-
Since 1997, XXL has competed with Hip-Hop powerhouse magazines such as The Source Magazine, and Vibe Magazine. It was founded by former Source staffer, Jules Winnfield, as well as others who wanted to create a more critically sound magazine than that of The Source...

This issue of Vibe follows on the same cover lines as the issue on the above page we can see that the layout scheme is very identical and the colour scheme is virtually the same as the above magazine cover but with different colour’s, the overlap of the main image over the title suggests Vibe is a very well known company and doesn’t need to provide recognition of their magazine.
This magazine features R&B star Chris Brown with other stars included the magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban followers of hip-hop culture.

Mixmag is British dance music and clubbing magazine. It styles itself as "the world's biggest selling dance music magazine"

Having begun 1982 in the United Kingdom, it covers dance events, and reviews music and club nights. Mixmag has coined terms and phrases to describe genres and conventions within dance music. In addition to the change in editorial tone, the relaunched Mixmag features a fashion section, larger size and, according to Mixmag, improved production values.
Mixmag carries a cover mix CD each month by a different DJ or artist.

The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom which has been published weekly since March 1952. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, which first appeared in the 14 November 1952 edition.

In May 2008 the magazine received a re-design, with the magazine being aimed at an older readership with a less poppy, more authoritative tone.
According to the latest traffic figures, NME.COM now has 3.5 million monthly unique users, making it one of the largest magazine websites in the UK.
